Upon arrival to a new duty station, one of the first things our family does is find out the best spots for dining, shopping and entertainment, and always at the top of our list are those venues that provide discounts to military and their families. And when I come across a venue that pulls off the hat trick – military friendly, excellent product and great customer service, I pay it forward by letting others know.
In that vein, I want to share the love with a post about the great experience our family had recently at Giovanni Pastrami, which touts itself as “Waikiki’s premier Sports Bar, Pizzeria, and Deli where you can stop by for a wide variety of breakfasts served all day, burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta, and Round Table Pizza.”
First, allow me to preface my comments by explaining that this was not a solicited review and neither I nor my family received anything in return for sharing it.
We live on Oahu and were in Waikiki for the Columbus Day weekend when we visited Giovanni Pastrami for the first time and were blown away. Not only did we find the staff, atmosphere and food excellent, but we also received a 20% military discount! This generous discount, we discovered, is applied to both food and beverages, and even includes alcoholic drinks. (And did I mention that they validate parking at the Wyndham located beside them on Lewers Street? Well they do!)
The owner believes in the mission of our soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines and coast guard, and feels it’s the least he can do to show his support.
Also noteworthy: Not only is Giovanni Pastrami a great place to visit with the family, but the venue can accommodate large groups – perfect for hosting Hale, Farewell and other military functions.
