Three days or more each month, Operation Uplink provides deployed service members with FREE phone calls home to the United States, thanks to this initiative by Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW. Calls can be made from Morale, Welfare & Recreation centers and military DSN lines for a full 24-hour period, and have, according to the VFW, provided well over 7 million free connections for our deployed heroes and their families.
Service members can use their regular SPAWAR prepaid PIN number at more than 600 Morale, Welfare and Recreation center Internet cafés using SPAWAR. If your service member doesn’t have a PIN, they can get one from the café manager on Free Call Days. The caller will first hear a sponsored message letting them know that there is no charge for the call, and they are then free to talk as long as they wish – or are able.
